Calling Dancers Ages 5-10!
The Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet (SMB) is excited to announce open auditions for its 2024 production of The Nutcracker! The Nutcracker will be held on December 14th and 15th at the Riverview Theater in Shreveport. Your dancer will be auditioning to perform in ONE of the two shows. Dancers must have previous ballet experience.
All ages must be met by September 30th, 2024.
5-6 year olds must have at least 1 full year ballet experience
7-8 year olds must have at least 2 full years ballet experience.
9-10 year olds must have at least 3 full years ballet experience.
If your dancer has the previous ballet experience for their age group and is currently enrolled in a ballet class at a studio of their choice, they are welcome to come audition for SMB’s Minor Cast in The Nutcracker

Time: Check-in Begins 30 min prior to Audition time
Auditions Time: Begin at 5:30, sign-in begins at 5, 5-6 year olds are released by 6:30, other dancers are released by 8.
*Audition does not guarantee casting. Roles and production information will be emailed no later than Tuesday, September 10th.

Rehearsal Obligations
There will be a mandatory parent meeting at the first rehearsal for all those cast as a minor cast dancer in the production
Rehearsals will be held on Saturdays at Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet beginning September 14th. Mice 9:30-10:30 and Soldiers 3:30-4:30 for Sept. After fall break (October) dancers will start their full cast schedule times for 2 weeks, pending second studio floor, which they will then continue into full cast rehearsals.
Full Cast Rehearsals will be Saturdays starting October 26 at Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet.
Your dancer is allowed 2 excused rehearsals with 2 weeks notification so our Artistic Director can plan rehearsals.
